Things like program sales and welcoming folks, man the table for our tee-shirt and water sales. Give directions. Help vendors with set up and take down. Help with bands getting stuff around. This is your chance to step up...only for a few short hours...and this is fun stuff anyway! Not really hard work... giving a hand and being helpful!

Living the Arts… The Street is The Stage!

On Sept 24th the 600 block of Penn Street, in downtown Reading, will be filled with Music and Poetry, Dance and Theater! The City of Reading will play host to the global and historic event called 100Thousand Poets for Change. Reading's event will include a Street Music Festival. The festival is dedicated to inspiring and engaging young and old alike by celebrating a colorful and lively spectrum of the arts.

This home grown festival features local poets, musicians, dancers, theater troupes and artists. Noted Poets, such as Berks County Poet Laureate Craig Czury, will be reading alongside young, emerging poets who live in Reading and the surrounding areas. The music of Reading will ring through the streets with a wide range of styles including Latin Salsa, Hip Hop, Folk, Classic Rock, Indie, Gospel, and Caribbean vibes, to name a few. Multiple stages will provide non-stop entertainment throughout the day! Local Foodies will present a smorgasbord of treats to tempt the taste buds with Asian, Mexican, traditional Americana, vegan and a whole plate of other delicious delights!

Sept 24th promises to be a day of celebration and fun for all! Amazing and diverse talent will gather on the street for the first time in Downtown Reading to make history. The Poetry & Music Fest is part of the largest poetry reading in history! Archives of the various festivities will be kept at Stanford University. The community is coming together to create something truly unique and exciting! Walls are transcended as we plan for this event and work together to make positive things happen in downtown Reading . The grass roots, all volunteer effort involved in organizing the event is a testament to the sparks of creativity and collaboration that are being ignited in the city! Sustaining this effort will require support from sponsors, donors and friends.
